Gilberts gets in line for plastering

  • 1 Sep 2020

Gilberts is helping follow-on trades deliver a high end finish by attention to detail in its product design, courtesy of the introduction of a slimline plaster in border to its Series L range of linear grilles.

The border facilitates precise finishing of abutting plasterwork up to the ventilation grille, whether fitted into a wall, ceiling or bulkhead; it means a ‘high end’ finish can be achieved faster and more effectively along the grille’s alignment edge, even through multiple pieces in a long run.

Jonathan Haslam, Gilberts’ Managing Director, commented: “Many of our linear grilles are used in upmarket office and leisure developments, where the quality of finish is paramount.

“It is the little things that make all the difference, and our plaster-in border typifies that principle. We have engineered a slimmer flangeless border profile the length and ends of which are fitted with a purpose built plaster beading strip that allows a tidy fit into the wall or ceiling yet leaves a healthy 2mm gap for the final plaster skim.

“It helps follow-on trades such as plasterers attain precise abutment, and achieve that high level of finish quickly and easily, in an aspect of building work that magnifies the slightest flaw.”

Gilberts Series L linear strip grilles have been used in prestigeous locations such as Manhattan Loft Gardens and 4 Pancras Square in London, and The Macallan’s new visitor centre in Aberlour, Morayshire.

Fineline (3mm bars) and broadline (6mm bars) styles are offered as standard, in single units up to 2.4m long, or in sections for continuous runs. Blade angles can be set at 0 degrees , 15 degrees or 40 degrees, depending on airflow pattern required.

A free ventilation area up to 77% can be achieved depending on the grille configuration: Gilberts can CFD computer model ventilation volume and throw, air change, and noise reduction, if required.

Gilberts’ Series L grilles are just part of the company’s range of inlets and extracts for natural and mechanical ventilation.
