Senior Architectural Systems has supplied a number of glazing solutions for a new performing arts centre, which is based in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The new £5.5m centre, which is part of Newcastle-under-Lyme College, comprises a 200 seat auditorium, performing arts spaces and a student café, as well as music and dance studios.

Aire Valley Architectural was contracted to fit the centre with a number of glazing solutions from Senior Architectural Systems.

Glazing solutions from Senior

Senior’s slightline SMR800 curtain walling was selected for the entrance to the building. As the contractors were impressed with its aesthetic flexibility, the system has also been used to increase the flow of natural light into the dance studios and communal areas

Senior’s SPW600/E windows and SD automatic doors have been installed to complement the centre’s spacious design.

The glazing elements provide a contrast to the building’s façade, which comprises a mixture of render, aluminium and terracotta rainscreen cladding.

Since its completion, the centre has achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘excellent’, thanks to Senior’s contribution.
