Newport Galvanizers has partnered with Cardiff-based Tema Engineering to provide its hot dip galvanizing treatment to a large construction development in Newport.
Part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, Newport Galvanizers’ hot dip treatment was applied to over 650 tonnes of structural steel used for Piperack Modules and Process Structures at the Eastman Chemical Plant in Liswerry.
Colin Davies, General Manager at Tema Engineering, commented: “This was a fantastic project to be involved in – not only has a leading international company such as Eastman invested in the town, and retained employees of the former Solutia site, but it has also created 17 new positions.
A project of this scale in the country is great, and the feedback already received as a result of the works has been really positive.”
The companies have collaborated on a wide range of construction and structural projects together in the past two years, with this specific project set to see the manufacture of heat transfer fluids to be used in solar panels and power stations.
Colin added: “The contractual team at Eastman specified galvanizing for this project so we used the services of Newport Galvanizers, as we’ve worked with them before on many projects and know that the service they provide can be relied upon.”
Mike Small, Sales Manager at Newport Galvanizers, explained: “Steelwork used to construct sites like this needs to be protected in the right way in order for it to last long periods of time without any maintenance or regular servicing, especially due to it being open to the elements of a demanding working environment.
We’re thrilled to have partnered with Tema Engineering, and look forward to working with them again in the months and years ahead.”
