IKO launch RIBA-approved PIR insulation CPD

  • 17 May 2017

‘The Benefits of PIR Insulation within the Building Fabric’ is a new RIBA-approved CPD from IKO PLC aimed at architects, specifiers and contractors.

The seminar looks at junctions, condensation risks, build-up on timber, metal and concrete decks and relevant standards and legislation, as well as providing advice on thermal calculations.

It also looks at the many applications of PIR insulation, including cavity walls, cladding, underfloor heating, basement/flooring, internal pitched roofs and flat roofs.

Introduction to specification

‘The Benefits of PIR Insulation…’ also introduces delegates to PIR insulation specification, and the requirements of flat roof construction, which is becoming more and more prominent in the commercial sector.

The CPD looks at facings used on PIR boards, and reviews IKO enertherm, which is available in a variety of savings and offers a lambda value of 0.022W/(m.K). This means thermal insulation values can be met using thinner boards, saving both space and money.

To arrange a CPD, or for advice on thermal calculations and design, contact Vickie Townsend at [email protected] or 01257 255771.
