12 Things to Consider Before Buying an Infrared Camera

Infrared camera specification simplified by new guide

  • 23 Sep 2015

FLIR Systems has released a technical handbook, advising on the correct specification of infrared cameras for individual requirements.

Thermography has been developed rapidly over the past few years; as a result, the market’s range of infrared cameras now spans from pocket-sized products to high end models for professional thermographers.

When investing in thermal imaging technology, it is important to pick a hard-wearing camera model, which will work effectively over time.

Simplifying infrared camera specification

FLIR Systems has developed a comprehensive handbook to assist with the specification of infrared models.

The guide, entitled ’12 Things to Consider Before Buying an Infrared Camera’, is a technical publication, which explains the value of buying a camera with the capacity to store and output standard file formats.

FLIR also touches on the criteria that dictate the accuracy and repeatability of results, whilst reiterating the importance of buying a model with the highest detector resolution and image quality the budget can afford.

The publication examines the factors that should influence camera choice, emphasising the importance of thinking beyond current needs to ensure that the chosen model can be used in a wide variety of tasks.

It has been written for professionals, who may be specifying infrared cameras for an assortment of services, such as industrial preventative maintenance applications, electrical fault finding or building inspection.

The handbook can be downloaded as a PDF file from FLIR’s website.
