Integrated waterproofing system from Alumasc protects council building roof

  • 4 May 2016

Bridgen County Borough Council has selected Alumasc and Carmarthen-based registered contractor Central Roofing to provide a waterproof solution to the roof areas of its Celtic Court building.

Euroroof waterproof system

The system was completed with a 25-year warranty.

Alumasc provided a fully integrated waterproofing system alongside multiple products from Alumasc Exteriors Building Products; external wall insulation and render from Alumasc Façades and rainwater products from Alumasc Rainwater.

Central Roofing completely removed the existing waterproofing system, which had deteriorated following several years of use and multiple ad hoc repairs to extend its lifespan. It stripped the roofing back to the deck where repairs were carried out to the concrete and screed.

To provide immediate protection against the elements, a new Euroroof vapour barrier was installed and equipped with Alumasc PIR insulation, which incorporated tapered gutters to help the roof drain more efficiently.

A fully engineered insulated felt render system was installed, onto which a non-penetrative aluminium capping system was applied.

The waterproofing project was completed with the addition of aluminium rainwater downpipes, before the Euroroof waterproofing system was fitted. This comprised a felt underlay and Euroroof MG3/4 capping sheet.

The waterproofing system came with a 25-year warranty.

In addition to the roof refurbishment, Alumasc’s Swisslab External Wall Insulation was applied to the exterior walls to offer an insulated system and attractive final finish. The combination of products allowed Alumasc to provide a full envelope, single source package for Celtic Court.
