JB Shingles roof new Centre Parcs treehouses

The new treehouses at Center Parcs, Elveden Forest in Suffolk have been completed using JB Western Red Cedar Shingles from roof systems manufacturer Marley Eternit.

The four treehouses are fully equipped with luxury features, can accommodate up to eight people and have been designed to blend in with the woodland surroundings. JB Blue label Shingles were specified for their ability to provide a high quality long-life solution with low maintenance, which fit with the natural environment.

The JB Cedar Shingles specified were treated with JB FRT Exterior, providing a fire classification to BS 476-3, the same as a clay tile, for added reassurance and the protection of the visitors.

564 bundles of JB Shingles were required for the project and sub-contractor Lodge Roofing was appointed to undertake the installation. Marley Eternit’s JB Western Red Cedar Shingles were the ideal choice.

Shingles deliver one of the lowest carbon footprints of any widely used building product, representing a net carbon sink upon delivery, meaning more carbon is stored in the shingle than is emitted during its harvest, manufacture and transportation combined.

Lodge Roofing also used ShingleFix, which uses specially designed stainless steel staples to fix the shingles instead of using the traditional nail, further reducing the installation time of the project by up to 50% on larger builds.

Daniel Redferm, Marketing Executive, Marley Eternit, says: “The roofs on the lodges blend in well with the woodland and provide comfortable, warm and energy efficient accommodation.”

The JB ‘Blue’ certi-grade label denotes the highest quality grade shingles accredited through the Cedar Shingle and Shake Bureau (CSSB), guaranteeing that they are produced from 100% heartwood, 100% edge grain for dimensional stability and they are 100% free from defects such as knots.
