  • 2 Jun 2015

Bell Group saw off other shortlisted candidates, including Bagnalls, Novus Property Solutions, Ian Willians and R&M Williams to claim the inaugural Community Spirit Award at the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year ceremony at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.

The award is designed to recognise decorating contractors’ positive impact in the community.

Community Spirit

During 2014, Bell Group held 27 events in schools and community centres, which focused on developing the skills of young people in terms of employment and professional development. In addition, Bell Group used 100% local labour on 82% of its projects completed.

National Quality Manager for Bell Group UK Tracy Brescia commented on receiving the award: ñWe are extremely proud to be the first recipients of the Johnstone’s Community Spirit Award. Being a family owned and operated business, supporting the communities where we work is very much a part of our core values and company culture.î

Editors of industry titles LABM and HABM, Claire Clutten and Iain Aubisson respectively, sat on the judging panel.

ñWith social value now playing a vital role in the decision making of all local authorities and housing associations, it’s fantastic to see so many large contractors taking their commitment to the communities in which they work so seriously,î commented Claire.

ñWe are delighted to work with Johnstone’s on this award. The standard of entries was exceptionally high and proves that the decorating industry is in good health.î
