A Yorkshire primary school has benefited from the installation of Kingspan TEK Building System panels, which have contributed to the construction of an energy efficient classroom block.
Situated in the Yorkshire Dales, Boyle and Petyt Primary School was under a strict funding deadline.
Working to a tight budget and stringent National Park planning requirements, architect John Wharton collaborated with Roger Tiffany to develop 100 square metres of additional pre-school space in the form of a classroom block.
To construct the block’s roof and walls, SIPS@Clays LLP was contracted to design, fabricate and install the Kingspan TEK Building System, a series of structural insulated panels from Kingspan Insulation
Comprising a fibre-free insulation core, which sits between two layers of OSB/3, Kingspan TEK Building System panels have been developed to offer energy efficient insulation, whilst minimising heating requirements.
The System’s 142mm panels can achieve U-values of 0.20 W/m2.K, whilst their jointing system can reduce air leakage levels to 1 air change per hour at 50 pa.
Kingspan Insulation can provide bespoke specification: the System’s panels are pre-cut to suit the requirements of individual projects, eliminating the need for on-site alterations. The System also supports a variety of finishes.
For the Boyle and Petyt Primary School application, John Wharton specified a larch timber cladding, which will fade to a light grey.
The completed application provides adequate levels of insulation and airtightness, whilst the roof panels offer a solid base for the classroom block’s photovoltaic array.
The new Jorge Chávez Airport in Peru is one of the most pioneering airport projects ever undertaken in South America – it features Gatic UltraSlot from Alumasc Water Management Solutions (AWMS).

The key is to tender using Tobermore’s Secura modular concrete block retaining walls rather than the default masonry specification & the Secura Portal, an online tool.
