Mark Worrall, MD of business improvement specialists LC International, was among the respected thought leaders speaking at this year’s Construction Week.
Taking to the stage on day one of what’s become the UK’s largest built environment event, Mark’s presentation focused on the topic of ‘setting up for success’ – implementing the toolset, skillset and, most importantly, the mindset to boost performance.
In this way, he argued, companies can ensure a project’s completion on time, on budget, and to an exceptional standard.
To a crowd of professionals from all across UK construction, Mark stressed the importance of engaging every aspect of the workforce from the earliest stages of the project.
By setting up the people, processes and performance improvement that aligns with the project’s strategic goals, he suggested, companies can ensure all teams are singing from the same hymn sheet from day one.
Mark also put an emphasis on the critical role training plays in creating the highest-performing teams possible.
Mark comments: “Many people believe they can arrive at the most efficient way of doing things simply by following their common sense – but the truth is very different.
“It takes time, effort and a lot of rigorous analysis and planning to come up with the most productive way to complete a task – whether that’s fitting a door, or delivering a complex, multimillion-pound construction project.
“In short, achieving excellence takes work – and at LC, we specialise in helping leading construction businesses raise the bar in everything they do.
“It was fantastic to be able to share some of those insights at Britain’s largest construction event, and discuss the importance of doing things right first time with people from throughout our sector.
“Attending industry events like this is a great way to meet people and raise awareness of what we do at LC International.
“One of our key focuses is working closely with those who operate on the ground. Getting to speak to lots of people from different companies in one space was a perfect way to reinforce the importance of business improvement and, in doing so, drive real change across the industry.”
LC International has helped dozens of leading construction companies boost efficiency, cut lead times, and foster business-wide cultures of quality.
