Leading retailer specifies Barrel Vault rooflight systems for distribution centres

  • 8 Jun 2016

Lidl has specified Continuous Barrel Vault rooflight systems from Jet Cox for three new distribution centres in Southampton, Newton Wycliffe and Wednesbury.

The Southampton facility has a benefited from 2,000m2 of Continuous Polycarbonate Barrel Vaults incorporating a Polycarbonate Sprinkler Ceiling. The Barrel Vaults were installed across the entire roofscape, in accordance with Lidl’s light and fire performance criteria.

The system was supplied within 3 weeks following sign-off of the final design, with installation carried out by Jet Cox’s European and UK teams to deliver a complete rooflight system.

The teams worked closely alongside the sprinkler system designer to ensure correct positioning of the integral sprinkler ceiling, and also with the roofing contractor to overcome the logistical challenges posed by the often unpredictable British winter weather.

Similar systems were installed at Newton Wycliffe (with an integral safety system) and at Wednesbury, where the installation included Jet Cox upstand kerbs to ensure a fully integrated and secure unit down to roof deck level.

Jet Cox’s Continuous Barrel Vault rooflight systems are manufactured and tailored to individual requirements. The systems offer a light source of unlimited length, in widths ranging from 600mm to 7000mm.

Manufactured in accordance with BS EN 1026, 1027 and 12211; the system is supplied as a complete kit of tailor-made components to keep installation times to a minimum.
