Learn how to upgrade sound insulation specifications with the latest Hush Acoustics CPD

  • 23 Mar 2022

The latest technical CPD seminar from soundproofing and acoustic insulation specialist Hush Acoustics is the ideal free resource for any architect or contractor seeking to help understand how to meet, and go beyond, the minimum noise reduction requirements of the UK Building Regulations.

The 60-minute seminar, which can be arranged in a face-to-face ‘lunch and learn’ format or virtually through Zoom, Teams and other online platforms, explains all the main sound transmission issues that need to be considered when designing residential and commercial buildings, with expert advice on how to deal with them effectively.

This includes insights into how different types of floor, ceiling and wall construction need to be treated to address both airborne and impact sound transmission, along with an overview of what standards need to be met under the Building Regulations. Hush Acoustics’ experience in working with architects across the whole of UK enables the CPD seminar to be tailored according to the minimum standards of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, if required.

The CPD is delivered by Rob Crampton, MD of Hush Acoustics, who has more than 18 years’ experience of developing new sound insulation products, and working with architects, developers, building contractors, installers and acoustic test providers.

‘An important year’

Rob says: “2022 is an important year for the Building Regulations, with updates coming for those covering thermal and ventilation standards. But with this focus, it is crucial not to overlook what the acoustic standards like Approved Document E demand.

“That’s why our CPD provides an ideal refresher for anyone who wants to recap on what sound reduction levels they need to achieve in a building design, as well as a learning module for junior members of the team seeking to build their knowledge.

“Minimising sound transmission in separating floors and walls requires a good understanding of how to combine different materials, such as the variety of ways we can create resilient layers or add mass to a construction. Our CPD will help you get it right from the outset and avoid the potentially costly pitfalls.”

Hush Acoustics is a UK based manufacturer of acoustic products and fully tested acoustic systems which are designed to meet the requirements of all UK Building Regulations. Its solutions are widely used throughout new build, conversion and renovation projects, and it offers a range of systems that can be used under the Robust Details scheme.
