Making the Berkshire dream work with Black Millwork

  • 29 Jan 2018

A substantial refurbishment and extension undertaken on a impressive detached property in Berkshire has featured Andersen windows and doors supplied by Black Millwork.

Formerly a three-bedroom property, it has been turned into a contemporary four-bedroom modern family home, which has included the remodelling of the exterior envelope and expansion of window and door openings.

The project took around 10 months to complete, with the property owners referring to it as ‘amazing’ and mentioning how the new house was unrecognisable to the one before.

The fenestration choice had to match the modern style the owners desired, whilst also needing to perform efficiently too, as the amount of glazing was being increased to maximise the amount of natural light entering the property.

37 Andersen 400-series casement windows finished in white Perma-Shield were installed, alongside two sets of Andersen sliding doors finished in black Perma-Shield; both of which come with the big positive of never having to be repainted.

Another bonus is that their design and practicality are matched by impressive thermal energy efficiency ratings as well.

Black Millwork had been recommended to the property owners by a friend; they subsequently found them extremely easy to work with.

National Sales Manager, Bob Heller, often visited the site to answer queries and helped from the early days of the specification process and the Andersen products were praised for their slim frames, minimal maintenance requirements and the fact that they came in on budget.”

The property also features a unique entrance door with full-length side glazing units that benefit from a comprehensive 10-year warranty

The owners were proud of the main entrance door as, alongside the new built-out porch, it created a focal point for the front of the house and they stated how they were looking forward to adding some accent lighting and planting to the area.

The windows and doors have had a striking affect on the external aesthetics of the house, looking modern and high-end; whilst the project may have been a challenge, the owners were happy with the outcome and they cannot wait to move in, praising the trustworthy suppliers who are willing to go above and beyond.
