Mapei is now packaging Mapefer 1k, its single-component cement mortar for protecting reinforcing bars, in durable Alu-Pak packaging.
Mapei has introduced Alu-Pak packaging to extend the storage life of Mapefer 1k; the corrosion-resistant product now has a shelf life of up to 12 months.
The packaging is comprised of three layers – a thin aluminium layer sandwiched between two polyurethane layers – which makes it sturdier and more durable than traditional 3ply paper bags. Compared to Mapefer 1k’s previous packaging, Alu-Pak is less likely to rip onsite or during distribution.
Alu-Pak packaging is also weatherproof and more economical, in terms of the space required for storage in warehouses.
Manufactured in Mapei’s Italian plant, Mapefer 1k is a one-component cement mortar, developed to protect reinforcing bars by preventing corrosion.
The mortar is mixed according to a formula developed in Mapei’s Research and Development laboratories, where its lab team discovered that powder polymers, cementitious binders and corrosion inhibitors could be applied to reinforcing bars to inhibit rust formation.
Dedicated to product innovation, Mapei invests approximately 5% of its turnover and 12% of its workforce in Research and Development.
