The MCRMA, the industry association dedicated to the metal cladding and roofing sector, is to hold a members’ technical conference in September.
Held over two days (3 – 4 September), the event will feature technical presentations, panel discussions and Q&As on a range of topics and issues affecting the industry, as well as providing valuable networking opportunities.
Registrations for the technical conference, which is sponsored by MCRMA members Firth Steels, Steadmans, Liquasil and Fixing Point, have already exceeded expectations, reflecting overwhelming support for the event amongst members.
At a time when the industry is undergoing significant change, largely resulting from the implementation of the Building Safety Act and ever stricter sustainability targets, the association expects the event to prove extremely popular with members who are keen to stay ahead of the curve and comply with the latest requirements.
The MCRMA has chosen the Morgan Motors HQ and manufacturing facility as the venue for the technical conference. In addition to giving attendees an opportunity to tour their site and take a drive in an iconic Morgan around the beautiful Malvern Hills, this location also provides an opportunity for members to hear from representatives of the car manufacturer’s quality team. They will share insights from the automotive sector which may be useful in shaping future best practice in the metal building envelope industry.
Sessions will cover a diverse range of topics to enable members at all points in the supply chain to get up to speed with the latest policies, industry initiatives and technical developments. Day one will include a panel discussion on standards and best practices, the latest insights from the Construction Products Association (CPA), plus a presentation about coatings and a discussion about what can be learned from system failures.
On day two, members will have the opportunity to get involved with a panel discussion on the Building Safety Act and the competence initiative evolving in the building envelope sector. There will also be a panel discussion on the importance of fastener selection, and the conference will conclude with ‘What 3 questions?’, an interactive session exploring some of the industry’s next challenges.
Clare Fenton, Chair of the MCRMA, says: “The building envelope sector is undergoing so much change currently that we felt now was a particularly important time to bring everyone together for the first of our new format technical conferences.
“Hence why we are really looking forward to providing the opportunity for members to hear from some of the industry’s most respected leaders and technical experts to discuss the issues we’re all facing and what is on the horizon.
“We’re extremely grateful for the generous sponsorship provided by Fixing Point, Steadmans, Liquasil and Firth Steels, whose support will help us deliver the best possible event for all members.
“Our goal is to make the technical conference a forum to exchange ideas, gain new insights and discuss challenges, as well as network, and we hope to be able to make it a regular event going forward. Whilst the event is exclusively for members and selected guests, we will communicate the key take-aways from the sessions more widely through our marketing and PR in the coming months.”
