The British Board of Agrément (BBA) has given its approval to Eurocell’s Modus system of PVC-U doors and windows.
The BBA tested its system’s key product features, including: thermal properties, weathertightness, ventilation, resistance to intrusion, access and durability.
The testing process involved a series of comprehensive laboratory tests, on-site evaluations, quality management checks and inspections of production to assure clients and specifiers that the product will perform as described.
It was concluded that the PVC-U profiles would achieve a U-value of 1.2 W/m2 using 4/20/4mm sealed double-glazed units and would continue to function at a satisfactory level for more than 35 years.
The Modus system was awarded a BBA Agrément Certificate which covers the Modus Single Leaf and Double Leaf Door Systems. The system is BBA-certified in white, cream or woodgrain finishes, for use in replacement and new-build applications, for external use as primary and secondary access doors in walls of domestic and non-domestic buildings.
The BBA also certified the Modus Fully Reversible System, the Outward Opening System and the Tilt and Turn System, in white, cream or woodgrain finishes, for use in replacement and new-build applications in dwellings, light commercial premises and similar habitable applications.
Eurocell’s Modus system can achieve a U-value as low as 0.7 by installing triple-glazed units thanks to its 75mm six-chamber profile system. This has led Modus to become one of the first systems to achieve the BRFC Window Energy Rating (WER) of A++, which is awarded to windows with an energy index value equal to or great than +20.
The range consists of 50% post-consumer recycled PVC-U as standard and Eurocell optimises material usage by employing its dual material extrusion technology (DMET) that layers post-consumer recycled and ‘virgin’ material simultaneously, so the recycled material is concentrated in the central core of the profiles where it cannot be seen once the door or window is installed.
Available in nine solid and woodgrain-effect colours, the Modus system comes with a 12-year guarantee. A further range of more than 25 solid and woodgrain-effect finishes are available including colour both sides.
A selection of Modus BIM models are now available on the Eurocell website
In 2025, access management can be a whole lot easier. By making access part of their digital processes, businesses can put time-consuming key management and the cost of changing the locks firmly behind them. Making this switch is a lot easier than many people think, as ASSA ABLOY explains here…
