Charcon paving at Leighton Buzzard Railway

National Railway Heritage building utilises Europa block paving

  • 17 Nov 2016

Leighton Buzzard Railway has opened a modern reworking of a traditional London and North-Western Railway building that will act as its new station.

Located at Page’s Park – the main terminal building for Leighton Buzzard Railway, one of the last two-foot (610mm) gauge light railways built in Britain for industrial use – the white station building features an attractive frontage and surrounding pathway supplied by Charcon.

Charcon supplied a total of 800m2 of Europa block paving for the project in a warm red hue. Europa block paving is suitable for areas of heavy-use trafficking, with a high level of durability and good grip.

Available in a wide range of shades, Europa paving can be easily lifted to access services and comes in a number of variations to help meet specifiers needs.

Tony Tomkins, Planning Officer at Leighton Buzzard Railway said; “We are thrilled with the completed hard landscaping around our new station building. The red hue of the blocks complements perfectly the traditional style station building, resulting in an attractive, premium finish, which will certainly stand the test of time.”

The new station building, which will be entered into the National Railway Heritage Awards in 2017, opened on 29th October 2016.
