Bristol’s Filwood Green Business Park has achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating at design stage. Its ventilation, supplied by Gilberts of Blackpool, has contributed to this success.
The Business Park is central to Bristol’s regeneration scheme for Knowle West: comprising 13,000 square feet of office space and 25,000 square feet of SMEs workshops, the development has been awarded the title of Eco Green Building of the Year.
The sustainable site was designed by Stride Treglown, ch2m and constructed by Midas Group for Bristol City Council.
Gilberts’ Mistrale natural ventilation solution has been fitted in each of the Business Park’s buildings. Type WPZ/50 louvres have been paired with the company’s Mistrale VN/75 insulated dampers and 220 deep attenuators.
Engineered to order, the ventilation system works to modulate the fresh air drawn in at low level; the used internal air is then exhausted at high level.
It also offers compliance with current and medium-term future Regulatory requirements.
Thanks to the consistent nature of the air movement, the building’s internal temperature remains within the present constant: any heat that is built-up during the day is purged at night.
Air leakage is as low as 5m3/hour/m2, with a U value down to 0.93W/m2K.
The ventilation system works to balance a fresh internal environment with minimal ingress of noise from the busy external roads.
