Sydney Olympic Park’s new netball complex has made use of a natural ventilation system from SE Controls’ Australian systems partner, Unique Window Systems (UWS).
Designed to provide energy efficient control over indoor air quality and temperature, the system utilises four SE Controls NVLogiQ zone controllers to monitor factors such as carbon dioxide levels and humidity.
The units work to monitor the air quality in the upper and lower levels of Netball Central. High and low level louvres have been programmed to automatically open if the air quality exceeds the pre-defined environment set-point limits; this allows for ventilation and cooling.
Thermal stacking is also used: the warm stale air is vented through the high level vents, allowing cooler and fresher replacement air to be drawn into the building via the low level louvres.
Netball Central also benefited from the installation of 10 SE Controls PSUs, which were specified to ensure that each louvre responds correctly to the signals received from the controller, whilst providing the exact levels of ventilation.
The natural ventilation system is configured to provide night purge cooling at the end of each day; the vents are fully opened to ensure that stratified air is removed, along with any airborne pollutants that have built up during the day. It also works to reduce the internal temperature.
