Two Nazareth House residential care homes in Crosby and Birkenhead have been refurbished by Novus Property Solutions.
Operated by the Sisters of Nazareth, Nazareth House provides nursing and residential care for elderly people, including retired priests and nuns, across 15 care homes in the UK. Each includes self-contained accommodation, gardens, communal areas and on-site churches.
Novus carried out a series of enabling works to the back-of-house areas, which allowed
industrial laundry equipment installer, Laundry Tec, to fit new state-of-the-art apparatus including new industrial washers, dryers and laundry equipment.
Novus’ enabling works included the installation of new ceilings and hygiene boards to the walls, new electrical and gas feeds to meet industrial specification, as well as new flooring and paints.
Novus also worked with Qube Catering Equipment at the Birkenhead site to create a new kitchen area, whilst, at the Crosby site, four rooms and the surrounding corridors were refurbished to make space for he new laundry equipment.
An existing store room was converted into a staff shower room and the staffroom was also refurbished by Novus.
Both projects were completed within the set four-week deadline in a live environment. Paul Moss, contracts manager at Novus Property Solutions, commented:
“The team took great care to work with the sisters to co-ordinate the works during the programme, particularly when we had to tap into water and gas services which had to be done at certain times during the day to make sure that we kept disruption to a minimum throughout.”
Jeremy Hartigan from Laundry Tec commented: “The sisters at Crosby and Birkenhead are delighted with the transformation of the back rooms into a slick facility. The Novus team were highly professional and both projects were completed to an excellent quality and on time, allowing my team to keep to the agreed schedule for the installation of the new equipment. Working with Novus certainly made the whole project straight forward.”
Novus is currently undertaking additional works on the Nazareth House homes, including new doors and door widening, new fencing, two ramps with hand rails at Crosby, in addition to refurbishment works for eight rooms at Birkenhead.
