New apps improve the purchase and specification of glass products

  • 24 Mar 2015

Glass Compass is just one of the new apps that have recently been developed and launched by Saint-Gobain Glass UK.

The apps – Glass Compass, Glass Vision, Glass Design, Glass Pro, Glass Façade and Glass dBstation – are available to download on Android and Apple devices now.

Glass Compass

The first of Saint-Gobain Glass UK’s new apps, ‘Glass Compass’, has been developed to assess a home’s geographical location and orientation.

The app uses this information to find the best performing glass for the windows of different homes.

It also features an Energy Calculator which presents users with the savings they could achieve.

Glass Vision

‘Glass Vision’ is a virtual app which allows users to view products from Saint-Gobain Glass UK’s premium range through augmented reality.

The company’s patterned DECORGLASS, contemporary MASTERGLASS, acid-etched SATINOVO glass and its lacquered glass PLANILAQUE EVOLUTION are all available to view in a full screen simulation mode.

The app also looks at the translucency and transparency of the glass products.

It has been designed to help users specify the right interior glass for their home or office.

Glass Design and Glass Façade

‘Glass Design’ is a portfolio of interior projects where glass products from Saint-Gobain Glass have been used.

It enables users to browse through these projects and add bookmarks to their favourites for future reference.

Similarly, ‘Glass Façade’ provides a look at Saint-Gobain Glass’ worldwide commercial projects; it features a Project Locator Map to enable users to find projects close to them.

Glass dBstation

Saint-Gobain Glass UK’s ‘Glass dBstation’ is an acoustic simulator which re-creates the sound insulation that different insulating glazing compositions provide.

Best used with headphones, it has been designed to help users assess the noise pollution in their surrounding environments and choose the best glazing solution to deal with it.

Glass Pro

Finally, ‘Glass Pro’ has been created as an interactive app which enables users to visualise the rendering of a glazing product in various design settings and under different lighting conditions.

By simulating an image synthesis of different products on façades of buildings, it is able to demonstrate the type of glazing products throughout various stages of a building construction.

Unlike Saint-Gobain Glass UK’s other new apps, ‘Glass Pro’ is only available on iOS.
