New BIM objects released by Kingspan Insulation

  • 9 Feb 2017

Kingspan Insulation is releasing over 500 new flat roof BIM objects to help streamline the specification process. Covering a wide range of green and warm roof constructions, the objects feature high performance Kingspan Therma range products.

The desired U-value can be specified by users from the intuitive U-value Calculator menu, and elements can be adjusted within the construction. Users can now have the BIM object for their Therma range flat roof construction sent to them via email along with their U-value calculation by ticking a request box at the end of the calculation process. The objects are attached as a ZIP file in both IFC and Revit formats.

The U-value Calculator includes over 8000 calculations for floor, wall and roofs, all pre-calculated by a ‘BBA/TIMSA Scheme for calculation Competency Part 1 – U-Value and condensation risk’ approved member of Kingspan Insulation’s Technical Services Department. Bridging and fixing factors are also taken into account where appropriate.

The calculator is available to download as a free app for Apple, Android and Windows devices. Kingspan Insulation BIM product objects are also available for free download from the NBS National BIM Library in addition to the new flat roof objects.
