New guide informs on the sealing of end lap details

  • 13 Apr 2015

MCRMA’s “Effective sealing of end laps in metal roofing constructions” can be downloaded now

Entitled “Effective sealing of end laps in metal roofing constructions”, the new guidance document advises on the issues that need to be taken into consideration to ensure that end laps are sealed correctly.

It covers profiled metal to GRP rooflights, profiled metal to metal, sandwich panel to panel and sandwich panel to factory assembled GRP rooflights.

Within the document, MCRMA reveals that it is essential to make sure that the end laps of the roofing and cladding system are correctly sealed, as well as the cladding system and perimeter joints.

Doing this will provide vapour control, retain heat and reduce air leakage.

It is particularly important as a building can fail and expensive repair work may be required if a mistake is made in the construction stage.
