New monthly podcast explores acoustics specification in indoor environments

‘A Sound Effect on People’ is a monthly podcast series launched by Saint-Gobain Ecophon for architects, contractors and professionals looking for a greater understanding of acoustics and how to a achieve optimum acoustic specification for indoor environments.

Presented by former ITN News journalist Salma Cranefield, the 30-minute podcasts explore a range of subjects with industry experts including Ecophon concept developers and in episode three, psychologist Dr Nigel Island of Workplace Unlimited.

Episode One covers the impact of acoustics on people and how it facilitates the delivery of education in schools and universities, enhances productivity and wellbeing in offices, and aids recovery and healing in healthcare institutions.

The second episode welcomes the institute of Acoustics Council’s Honorary Secretary Russell Richardson to the panel and focuses on education and how acoustics can help students concentrate and learn.

The most recent episode looks at why good acoustics matter at work, including how they can reduce stress and improve wellbeing.

Will Jones, Marketing Manager at Ecophon commented on the podcast: “We are often involved in research projects about sound and conduct our own tests. We know how to create comfortable room acoustics.

The aim with this series of podcasts is to share our, and of course other expert’s, knowledge and encourage listeners to really get themselves up to speed with what’s happening in the world of acoustics.”
