New quarterly standards reviews from GAI

  • 25 Jul 2018

Responding to the ever-changing regulatory landscape, the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) has published its first Quarterly Standards Review, intending to help door and window hardware professionals stay compliant.

The document gives further information on all relevant BS and EN Standards and highlights standards that are due for revision, also suggesting when that revision might be.

In the first of the series, the GAI review covers standards relating to hanging devices, door controls, locks and latches (both mechanical and electro-mechanical), door furniture, exit devices, finger protection, accessibility, doorsets and door assemblies and Building Information Management (BIM).

Douglas Masterson, GAI technical manager, commented: “In addition to our individual Guides to Standards and Technical Briefings, members can now access a comprehensive overview of recent changes to legislation, plus prepare themselves for changes coming in the next quarter.

“This will help them to give their customers the best possible hardware advice and ensure that any hardware specifications they provide will be compliant with the latest standards.”
