New Talking Wood series launched by Metsä Wood

  • 20 Apr 2016

Talking Wood is a new video series by Metsä Wood about contemporary wood construction processes, hosted by leading professionals in the construction industry.

The first four videos in the series feature different wood experts sharing their insights, knowledge and stories.

Executing demanding structures

The first video, ‘Executing Demanding Structures’, is hosted by architect Henk Moen of Moen & Van Oosten Architecten. Henk buildings “spatially well-designed buildings – climate machines that remain close to nature while utilising the full range of today’s technical possibility.”

In the video he talks about employing the natural charm of wood to create demanding structures.

Sledgehammer-proof high security doors

The second Talking Wood video is presented by Stephen Nadin, managing director of the Rocal Group. Stephen discusses how engineered wood, such as Metsä Wood’s Kerto LVL, is a natural choice for fabricating high security doors.

Engineered wood improves natural strength

Vincent Raadschelders, a structural designer and lecturer at Delft University, discusses how ‘engineered wood improves natural strength’ in the next Talking Wood video. He speaks about how the natural strength of timber is used in engineered wood to enable large spans and prefabricated modules.

Flexibility and strength of Kerto LVL meets diverse challenges

The topic of the fourth video is the flexibility of Metsä Wood’s Kerto LVL, presented by Andreas Rutschmann, head of the technical department at Finnholz, who recently collaborated with Metsä Wood as part of its Plan B project.
