Following the opening of its new Northern Branch, Newton Waterproofing has expanded its tracked delivery and recycling services on its own fleet of vehicles.
Customers will benefit from a FORS-accredited nationwide delivery system, equipped with live delivery tracking. The traceable Newton Recycling Service will also deliver project-specific sustainability data for customers across the country.
Thanks to the opening of the new Newton Waterproofing Systems Northern Branch in Leeds, its tracked delivery services on the fleet of Newton vehicles will also be expanding across the country.
Previously, Newton’s guaranteed, next-day deliveries were only available across London, the Home Counties and the South East. However, the fleet of dedicated delivery vehicles now operates from both the Newton head office in Tonbridge, Kent, and the new Northern Branch in Leeds.
The result is that customers can rely far less on national courier networks, as they will instead benefit from its advanced delivery system and vehicle tracking.
Furthermore, thanks to the company’s live delivery tracking software, implemented in 2022, customers will be able to see the exact location and estimated time of arrival for their product delivery, as well as receiving immediate digital proof of delivery.
Overall, the FORS certified Newton delivery fleet will enable customers across the country to access the complete range of products including structural waterproofing, damp proofing and specialist construction supplies.
This also includes its wide range of UK product partnerships, enabling customers to purchase specialist products via Newton across the country, including Ardex, Rawlplug, Tarmac and Weber, amongst others.
Warren Muschialli, Managing Director, comments: “We are incredibly proud of our new Newton Northern Distribution Centre, which will not only provide customers in the area with our wide range of products, but will also offer speedy in-person service, as well as next-day and same-day deliveries.”
The Newton Recycling Service is the first closed-loop recycling scheme in the UK waterproofing industry, run in collaboration between Newton and the Newton Specialist Basement Contractors in order to actively collect and recycle off-cuts of HDPE waterproofing membrane and the plastic tubs and metal containers that hold Newton’s liquid waterproofing products from across the UK, for reuse in the construction industry.
To provide this service, Newton has dedicated drivers who will collect the HDPE & product containers from the site or offices of the NSBC network for recycling back at the head office in Tonbridge, Kent. The waste off-cuts and packaging are also collected at the same time as new construction membranes are being delivered, thus saving on dedicated pickups and the associated carbon emissions.
Overall, since 2017 Newton has prevented 21.87 tonnes of HDPE membrane from going to landfill, and Newton aims to continue this success in 2022.
With the 2021 expansion of the service to also include our plastic and metal packaging that is used to store and distribute our liquid-applied waterproofing products, Newton is hoping to also prevent over 7,000 containers from going to landfill in 2021 and each year thereafter.
To translate this into some slightly more quantifiable figures, 21.87 tonnes of recycled HDPE equates to:
– Preventing 20.69 tonnes of CO2e emissions from entering the atmosphere*
– Saving 80,900 Kilowatt Hours (kWh) of energy
– Energy which is worth a total of £11,625.36
– Which is enough energy to make over 2.87 million mugs of tea!

In recognition of its innovation and groundbreaking work in the waterproofing industry, the service has also been shortlisted and recognised in awards ceremonies across the construction, recycling and plastics industries, including:
– The Property Care Association Best Practice Awards – Sustainability – Winner
– Kent Excellence in Business Awards – Commitment to the Environment – Winner
– National Recycling Awards – Commercial Waste Reduction Initiative Award – Finalist

– Construction News Awards – Best Innovation – Finalist
– British and Irish Trading Alliance – Charles Darwin Award – Winner
– Association of Specialist Underpinning Contractors – Special Achievement Award – Winner
– London Construction Awards – Sustainable Construction Award – Finalist
As it moves forward, Newton will continue its commitment to tackling the waste that is produced by the waterproofing and construction industries, by reducing its own plastic packaging waste across our product range, and continuing to invest in the expansion and growth of the Newton Recycling Service.
As a company, Newton holds ISO 14001 certification and is always seeking to improve its environmental credentials, as well as all participants who are associated with them in the structural waterproofing industry.
This bespoke service allows the company to not only offer specifiers a quality waterproofing solution installed by a fully trained and competent professional, but it also shows a real commitment to lowering all of its carbon footprints in the process.
Newton and its NSBC network have a true commitment to all parties involved in the construction process.
This ensures its HDPE membrane systems will be installed in the most efficient manner with continuous focus on quality and minimal wastage. It is, however inevitable that some off-cuts will be produced.
Specifiers and end clients should look for the NSBC Membrane Recycling Service logo on vehicles and literature as a mark of quality assurance that the HDPE membranes are being recycled and not sent to landfill.
