Newton Waterproofing has made the finals in an impressive eight award categories in the past month, at the same time as celebrating its 175th anniversary.
Making the shortlist in three categories in the London Construction Awards, a scheme that celebrates major achievements, developments and innovations across the UK’s construction industry, Newton is up for Supplier of the Year, Fire Safety Solution of the Year, and the Excellence in Sustainability Award.
The company is also up for Innovation of the Year in the National Building and Construction Awards, a programme that celebrates the achievements of the country’s most enterprising construction businesses.
At the CN Specialists Awards, the only national awards to recognise the outstanding achievements of specialist contractors and suppliers, they are in the running for both Innovation of the Year and Project of the Year by a Specialist Contractor.
Finally, Newton has been shortlisted for Family Business of the Year and Best Enterprising Business in the SME National Business Awards, a programme that recognises the achievements of successful small and medium enterprises.
The eight nominations are a testament to the investment and work carried out by Newton over the past 12 months.
This includes becoming the exclusive supplier of a specialist cavity drain waterproofing system using the fireproof and waterproof Oldroyd Xtf membrane. Produced in Norway, Oldroyd Xtf is the number one sustainable fireproof and waterproof solution for underground projects, and is distributed exclusively in the UK via Newton.
Following on from this investment, Newton joined specialist contractor Arti Structural Waterproofing to successfully deliver a failsafe waterproofing and fireproofing solution to the service tunnels beneath the British Museum, ensuring that the Grade 1 listed building is fully protected.
Last year, the company also opened its new distribution centre in Leeds, giving customers in the north of the UK easier access to its extensive range of waterproofing products and technical services.
The Newton Northern Distribution Centre now supplies customers with the company’s complete range of structural waterproofing and damp proofing products, as well as a wide range of specialist construction supplies from its specialist distribution partners.
In addition to its investments and expansion, Newton continues its long-standing commitment to sustainability, having successfully run the Newton Recycling Service, the first closed-loop recycling scheme in the UK waterproofing industry, since 2017.
Run in collaboration with its Newton Specialist Contractors, the service operates across the UK by actively collecting and recycling off-cuts of HDPE waterproofing membranes as well as the plastic and metal containers that hold liquid products, for recycling and reuse in the construction industry.
Since then, the service has gone from strength to strength, recycling over 23 tonnes of material.
Warren Muschialli, Newton Waterproofing Managing Director, comments: “To be shortlisted in multiple award categories in such a short space of time truly is an honour, and is a testament to the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes at Newton, the continual investment the company makes into new product innovations and high-profile waterproofing projects, as well as to our unwavering commitment to sustainability.
“All of these awards schemes are highly commended within the industry, and to be recognised for our efforts is a real privilege and milestone in our history.”
