Non-slip JB CitiDeck specified for primary school’s eco-POD

  • 4 Aug 2016

JB CitiDeck was originally developed for the walkways at the Olympic Park, where safety and accessibly were of utmost importance to the organisers of London 2012. It is now specified for many urban applications and public areas – most recently at an eco-friendly school in Liverpool for the decking surrounding its innovative new eco-POD.

Rice Lane Primary School’s wooden-clad eco-POD is part of a number of green initiatives a select group of pupils (dubbed the ‘Eco Stars’) have taken responsibility for.

The POD can accommodate 30+ pupils and is currently being used as a classroom whilst the school undergoes major building work. It will eventually be used by learning mentors as an ‘inspiration space’, for specialist support and wider training.

JB CitiDeck was used for the eco-POD’s walkways, including steps leadings to the front doors and a ramp for wheelchair access at the rear.

Specified for its non-slip properties, the timber deck board is one of the most sustainable and environmentally-friendly hard landscaping products available. Its smooth profile is also easy to maintain, ideal for areas of heavy footfall such as school environments.
