Novus awards andpound;1,000 prize to Glasgow based athletics club

Red Star Athletics Club won the prize after Novus was inspired by the Commonwealth Games

Novus decided to donate the money to a local sports club after being inspired by the 2014 Commonwealth Games which were held in the city, with Red Star praised for supporting athletes of all abilities and disabilities for 25 years.

Club members, who train at Crownpoint Sports Complex, participate in a range of athletics and sports including wheelchair racing, race running and club throw.

Achieving success at national, international, Paralympic and Special Olympic level, two Red Star wheelchair racers _ Sammi Kinghorn and Meggan Dawson-Farrell competed in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, whilst former member, Libby Clegg, won gold in the women’s para-sport 100m.

Derek Ferguson, Novus’ strategic operations manager in Scotland, said: ñTo see many of the world’s best athletes competing at the highest level was inspiring to us as a business and we wanted to contribute to the legacy of the games by donating andpound;1,000 to a sports club in the city.
