Novus Property Solutions has refurbished three student residences in Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Bristol for Unite Students.
The contractor redecorated and re-floored almost 1,000 bedrooms, in addition to shared and communal areas within Unite’s student accommodation across the three cities.
Novus began the refurbishment project on both James Watson Halls in Portsmouth and Marketgate accommodation in Bristol during June 2016 and Purbeck House in Bournemouth from July onwards – taking place over the peak summer period to ensure students’ studies were not disrupted.
The refurbishment project was completed before students returned in September 2016.
Ray Fielder, operations manager for Novus, oversaw the Unite refurbishments in Bournemouth and Portsmouth. Commenting on the project, he said: “Winning the contract to update three student properties for such a high-profile accommodation provider is testament to the standard of work that we have carried out for Unite in the past.
All three projects were completed in less than three months which, although challenging, was made easier by Novus’ organised and effective allocation of resources to meet the client’s expectations.
We hope that the rejuvenated facilities and décor help students living in the Unite properties to enjoy and get the most out of their university experience and we look forward to working with Unite again in the future.”
Stephen Baldwin, estates project manager for Unite added: “Due to the high volume of works and short time frame of the project it was important to have strategically placed partners to carry the works out to a high standard in a timely manner with a well-managed team on the ground.
Novus was exactly what we were looking for in a partner – the team worked with us to plan each project and delivered the right quality within the right time frames. We hope to build on our relationship with Novus and look forward to working with the team in the future.”
