Novus Property Solutions has confirmed that it will continue its involvement in the flagship education programme set up by Business in the Community (BITC) for the next three years.
Since 2013, Novus has been a Member of Business in the Community, part of the Prince’s Responsible Business Network, which works to tackle a wide range of issues to build a more equal and sustainable society.
Novus has built links with schools in Staffordshire as part of the BITC Business Class scheme, which aims to support a cluster of schools in disadvantaged areas by creating long-term partnerships with local businesses.
The company created its first partnership four years ago when it began working with the staff and students of Thistley Hough Academy. Novus set up a range of collaborative projects including the creation of a community garden, path-building and fencing installation, in addition to needs-led activities, mentoring, volunteering and skills development involving the students.
Business in the Community commended the partnership in 2016 by awarding Novus the West Midlands Collaborative Action Award, recognising the positive impact the company has made on key social and environmental issues.
Since it was established, the BITC Business Class scheme has supported more than three thousand school pupils to help improve their skills and employability.
Reflected on the success of Novus’ involvement in the scheme, Stuart Seddon commented: “Business Class is a very special initiative that has grown close to the hearts of the Novus team.
The investment of time and costs that we have put into working with the schools brings a range of benefits, the most important being the boosting of career opportunities and employment skills for young people in the region.
Our business thrives on its links with the local area, and the decision to continue our involvement in the programme – which delivers such vital work and involves such dynamic schools and businesses – was an obvious one.”
