Best month for builders for two years
- output in the construction industry grew by 2.5% compared with March 2016.
- all new work increased by 2.9%
- all repair and maintenance increased by 1.9%
- strong industrial production data overall means economy performing better than expected
However, business surveys still show a vote leave in the EU Referendum would hit the construction industry hard, not least because it relies heavily on migrant labour.
