OVO partnership with Mitsubishi Electric will help customers reduce heating costs by over a third

  • 23 Sep 2024

OVO and heat pump manufacturer Mitsubishi Electric announces a new partnership that provides even more households access to its market leading Heat Pump Plus add-on.

The Heat Pump Plus add-on offers OVO customers with a Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan air source heat pump the opportunity to heat their homes for 15p per kWh, compared to the average standard variable rate tariff (SVT) cost of 21.29p per kWh. This means that OVO customers could shave over a third (35%) off their home heating bills compared to the market average.

All Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan heat pump users with an active MELCloud account are eligible for this offering if they switch their energy account to OVO. The add-on is free to sign up to and unlocks the specialist rate to run the Ecodan heat pump.

Net Zero

Together, OVO and Mitsubishi Electric are working to make heat pumps more accessible and enable more people to make the switch from a gas boiler. This partnership extends access to Heat Pump Plus add-on to more customers than ever before, underlining OVO’s mission to help make greener energy easier for households to access as part of its journey to Net Zero.

Grainne Regan, OVO’s Head of Heat, says: “We are committed to making Heat Pumps more accessible and supporting customers in their switch. Installing a heat pump can reduce gas use to zero when paired with the right installation, helping customers to cut costs and carbon. Together with Mitsubishi Electric we are working to reward customers for making greener choices and encouraging others to do the same.”

Russell Dean, Mitsubishi Electric Residential Product Group Director, says: “Mitsubishi Electric is dedicated to making sustainable heating solutions more accessible and affordable for households. Through our partnership with OVO, we are enabling our Ecodan heat pump users to enjoy significant savings on their heating bills, while also contributing to a greener future.

“By working together, we can help households transition away from gas boilers and towards more energy-efficient, low-carbon alternatives, while also reducing their energy bills.”
