ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has supplied a range of its Powershield doorsets to a new conference centre at Resorts World in Birmingham.
The Vox Conference Centre is one of the largest leisure and entertainment centres of its kind in Europe. The centre comprises five suites and three spacious boardrooms to accommodate events from small seminars to conferences with up to 900 attendees.
ASSA ABLOY Security Doors worked in collaboration with Overbury to specify doors that would contribute significantly towards hygiene for canteen areas, whilst satisfying fire and acoustic requirements.
Powershield Fire Doors and Acoustic Doors were supplied and and installed into plaster stud walls; the doors were tested and Certifire approved for this application.
Every specification was made with fire safety and building efficiency in mind. As the building is an extremely high traffic conference space, high-end acoustic performance was very important. ASSA ABLOY’s Powershield Acoustic doors are designed to resist sound up to 45 decibels, helping to control noise levels for events at the centre.
The doorsets were supplied with a polyester powder coated finish to improve durability and factory fitted with ASSA ABLOY hardware. Steel Personnel Doors were also specified to offer strength and durability.
The Vox Conference Centre was a busy project, often involving up to 600 working on-site at any one moment. It was of utmost importance that all aspects of the development were delivered as scheduled to enable the projects continuation and conclusion.
Alastair Bridgman, Senior Project Manager at Overbury, commented that ASSA ABLOY Security Doors were able deliver and install all the doorsets to plan. He said:
“ASSA ABLOY Security Doors’ were able to meet all of our criteria, including our critical hygiene requirements for the kitchen area. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors offered the best economical solution, while also being the highest quality solution.
ASSA ABLOY Security Doors were also able to provide us with invaluable advice regarding security and fire safety throughout the project, thanks to their many years of expertise.”
