Sika’s Sustainability Hub is a new online resource, which has been designed for use by those specifying projects with sustainability requirements.
Sustainability considerations can take a substantial amount of time to research and calculate. Sika has developed its Sustainability Hub to reduce this time; the portal has been designed to guide users through the process.
The launch of the hub coincides with the continued implementation of Sika’s 2014-2018 Sustainable Strategy, which aspires to enhance the company’s operating practice and reduce negative impacts.
Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) offer an evaluation of the environmental impacts associated with the stages of a Sika product’s life. The hub contains information on the assessments; Sika also offers specific LCA evaluations for individual projects.
Information on BRE green guide ratings and Environmental Product Datasheets (EPDs) are also available.
Users can request general sustainability packs, or specific ones for green building certification schemes, including BREEAM and LEED.
Sika Roofing’s sustainable systems are also featured on the hub. All information required on its SolaRoof, Green Roof and thermal insulation is provided, along with a number of sustainability case studies.
By using the hub, users will be able to maximise compliance with future schemes, such as the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES), and the current Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), which aims to increase energy efficiency and business profits.
The MEES regulations will come into force in April 2018. The regulations will make it unlawful to let commercial and domestic buildings that do not achieve a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of ‘E’ Poor energy performance. The hub will offer guidance to the landlords that the new regulations will effect.
