Lincoln Security and Chelmsford Locksmiths installed over 5,000 units to reservoir hatches, perimeter gates and more over the period of two years, working alongside Northumbrian Water to conduct a survey of the sites in order to access the level of security and number of units needed before work began.
Abloys PROTEC2 cylinder system was chosen as it is designed to provide a high level of security in sensitive areas, offering a patented disc controller structure that requires a moving element in the key.

PROTEC2 provides key and key blank patent protection until the year 2031 to prevent the authorisation of duplicate keys, available with the entire range of padlocks and cylinders.
A variety of products can be keyed into the same master key system in Abloy PROTEC2, allowing for simple operation with just a single key to make key management easier.
Some 1.97 billion different key combinations are available with the system to heighten general security and significantly reduce the risk of theft and vandalism at the Northumbrian Water Groups 3,000 rural assets.
