Verdantix, an independent research and advisory firm specialising in various aspects of business and technology, utilises their proprietary Green Quadrant methodology to assess vendors in specialties ranging from EHS Software and Supply Chain Sustainability to Construction Management Software (CMS) and Digital Twins.

The annual Green Quadrant Report for CMS is highly anticipated by the world’s top construction management software companies, and rightfully so. The summary report and scoring based on live product demonstrations, pre-set scenarios, desk research, and vendor responses presents an unbiased evaluation of each company’s offerings that is respected and valued by the software vendors, as well as their customers.

This year’s report revealed some unmistakable trends with the potential to reshape the future of digital construction.

The Genesis of the Green Quadrant Report

London-based Verdantix was founded in 2008 with core values of independence, curiosity, accuracy, sustainability, and confidentiality. These principles have endured and strengthened as the business has grown. Partnerships with the National Safety Council (NSC) in North America, and the Sustainable Markets Initiative in the UK, founded by King Charles III, provide ongoing opportunities to demonstrate and share these values.

Verdantix

The Green Quadrant methodology developed by Verdantix provides a mechanism to convert raw data into a graphical scorecard that demonstrates each company’s strengths and weaknesses, and their performance in each area relative to the competition. By plotting company capabilities along the y-axis, and momentum along the x-axis, the relative location of each company on the grid places them into one of four quadrants, or categories:

– Challengers: Demonstrating room for growth in both technical capabilities and strategic success factors.

– Specialists: Building momentum in market vision and business strategy but not yet offering the highest level of capabilities.

– Innovators: Above average software capabilities with room for growth in market penetration and strategic momentum.

– Leaders: CMS vendors demonstrating excellence in both momentum and technical capabilities.

The unbiased scoring system reviews the strategies and offerings of each supplier from the buyer’s perspective, with professional integrity and user interface assessed along with revenue and other financial indicators. With RIB Software recognised as a leader in this year’s report, it is clear that long-standing commitments to health & safety, sustainability, integrated solutions, and strong field operations provide a winning combination.

2025 CMS Green Quadrant Highlights

This year, 12 of the world’s most successful construction management software providers were included in the analysis, with each of these well-established companies completing the requisite two-and-a-half-hour live product demonstration, and answering an 83-point questionnaire that included four technical, five functional, and eight market momentum categories.

The independent analysis performed by Verdantix revealed a segment that is, in general, young and expanding, with top players continuing to broaden their offerings while improving interoperability and mobile functionality. Verdantix survey data also showed that 61% of capital project managers have already invested in CMS, with an additional 11% planning to invest further over the next 12 months.

RIB Software Demonstrates Versatility

The Green Quadrant Report is not intended to be a head-to-head competition pitting solution providers against one another, but an honest assessment of overall market conditions, and the unique strengths of each participating company. The value of this unbiased analysis outweighs the time and effort required to participate, providing each company with external recognition as well as valuable and unbiased feedback.

Of the eight vendor capability and five momentum categories included in the analysis, RIB Software scored among the top three in:

– Data input, management, and storage
– Data analytics and visualisation
– Project management
– Compliance management
– Field operations management
– Market vision and business strategy
– Organisational resources and growth

High ratings across a variety of metrics provide evidence that a balanced commitment to technology, compliance, market expansion, and customer satisfaction can become the hallmarks of an industry leader, while still leaving room for continued growth and integration.

Preparing for Next Year

No matter where each company lands in the Green Quadrant, the balanced and comprehensive rating system provides an opportunity to celebrate recent accomplishments, and establish new plans and strategies to address weaknesses.

The strength of this format has been recognized in industries ranging from supply chain software to climate change consulting, with the impact of emerging industry trends, including AI integration and sustainable building practices, providing a backdrop for the detailed baselining of capabilities and long-term strategies. In effect, this year’s CMS Green Quadrant winners are poised to continue leading innovation in the construction industry into the future.
