Recofloor 2024 vinyl recycling awards now open

  • 8 Dec 2023

Waste vinyl collection and recycling scheme Recofloor announces that its 2024 annual awards are now open for entry. Funded by Altro and Polyflor, the Recofloor awards showcase the leading role played by scheme members in improving waste vinyl disposal practices.

Carla Eslava, Recofloor Manager, comments: “As zero waste targets spread through supply chains, winning a Recofloor award is a great way for flooring firms to boost their profile and highlight green credentials to prospective customers.

“It’s also a fantastic motivator, giving a boost to hard-working teams.”

Previous winners range from local fitters to regional distributors and national contractors.

Carla continues: “Large or small, every Recofloor member is contributing to making the flooring industry more sustainable and we’re keen to celebrate and share their successes.”

For 2024, the awards include six open categories: Contractor of the Year, Distributor of the Year, Drop-Off Site User of the Year, Project of the Year, Recofloor Champion, and Best Newcomer. Companies can either enter themselves directly or nominate a member who deserves recognition. Entries will be judged by the Recofloor team and Altro and Polyflor representatives.

Greatest Improver Award

In addition, all participating companies will be considered for the Greatest Improver Award. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded based on growth in tonnages collected between 2022 and 2023. Every active member will also receive either a Gold, Silver, or Bronze certificate, reflecting recycling efforts and tonnages collected.

Previous winners have seen significant benefits from publicity in industry media and by using the award as a business promotion tool.

Timothy Brown, of Commercial Flooring Bristol, comments: “Since winning Recofloor’s Highly Commended Drop-off site user of the Year and Recofloor Champion awards last year, my company has gone from strength to strength.

“Now I have my own premises where I consolidate my waste vinyl before dropping it at my local distributor, 3D Flooring Ltd in Bristol. The Recofloor scheme has helped my company grow, and telling my customers how we recycle has been very rewarding.”

Milestones

Awards can also act as key milestones in company sustainability journeys.

Reuben Gibson, Sales Director at SASGO, comments: “We are continually setting new goals for the business and working with professional bodies to monitor our performance.

“Winning Recofloor Distributor of the Year was an integral element of our carbon-neutral journey and a major part of our exciting 2023 sustainability plans.”

To enter, firms need simply to answer a short set of questions using the online entry forms at https://www.recofloor.org/recofloor-awards/. Entries close on Wednesday 21st February 2024.

Winners will be announced in March 2024 over social media, in industry publications, and via the Recofloor website. Prizes range from a special feature in building industry publications to goodies for team members and a free one-tonne collection.
