Recofloor Red Letter winner: Carl Taylor, Pen Alyn

Recofloor celebrates waste vinyl flooring recyclers

  • 8 Sep 2016

Recofloor has announced the winners of its Red Letter Days Summer Promotion, which was held throughout August to encourage vinyl flooring recycling in the industry.

Designed to increase the amount of waste vinyl sent for recycling, Recofloor’s August promotion was developed to encourage flooring companies to engage with the scheme.

To qualify for the prize draw, companies were required to raise a Recofloor collection of at least two full bulk bags, or two full blue bins, by the end of August. In total, 35 collections – comprising over 30 tonnes of waste flooring – were sent in for recycling.

The Red Letter Days Gift Cards were awarded to PenAlyn Property Maintenance Services from St. Asaph and two divisions 3D Flooring Supplies from Cardiff and Taunton.

Whilst 3D Flooring Supplies has been involved with the scheme for a number of years, PenAlyn Property Maintenance Services is a new member: after completing its first Recofloor collection as part of the summer promotion, it is now convinced of the benefits.

Recofloor scheme

Since its 2007 launch, Polyflor and Altro’s Recofloor scheme has reprocessed over 3,000 tonnes of waste vinyl flooring. Today, the programme boasts over 700 collectors and more than 60 drop-off sites across the UK and Ireland.

By recycling used vinyl flooring and offcuts via the scheme, flooring companies can reduce disposal costs and minimise the impact of their operations on the environment.
