Ambitious high-end construction projects in Bahrain and Macau are using Renderplas products as the central fabric of its facade, created greatly contrasting but equally impressive and memorable environments providing the comfort and function inherently required. This amplifies the challenges faced by designers when choosing building components that can transcend the extremes of their local climates. Wynn Palace in Macau and The Walk in Bahrain demonstrate how Renderplas PVC beading delivers that performance in contrasting environments.
Both of these installations needed to provide robust edge protection, resist weathering, maintain appearance and reduce the maintenance burden without compromising installation practicality.
Luxury Renderplas finish
At Wynn Palace, Renderplas supplied more than 38km of PVC external render beads for the 29-storey luxury resort development in Macau, often described as the ‘Las Vegas of China’. The multi-billion-dollar complex is centred around a dramatic rendered facade where finish quality and long-term appearance are crucial.
Specified in stylish ivory, Renderplas PVC stop and corner beads complemented the resort’s facade while providing a durable reinforced edge at door frames, window reveals and transitions between facade materials. Manufactured from 75% recycled exterior grade, impact resistant, UV stable plastic, the beads were selected as a strong and cost-effective alternative to stainless steel profiles and are guaranteed not to stain or corrode over time.

The project also highlighted practical installation advantages. PVC beads are lighter to handle and transport, more damage-resistant as well as safer and easier to cut and install on site, helping to reduce construction waste. The finished facade achieved a clean, durable finish intended to stand the test of time.
Durability by design
The Walk in East Riffa, Bahrain, presented a different challenge. The country’s first open-air mall combines high-end retail, cafés, restaurants and an art gallery within a bold geometric structure formed by large external render panels. Here, edge detailing was not simply functional, it formed part of the architectural design itself.
Renderplas PVC stop and corner beads were specified to create crisp, durable edges to the external render panels that define the building’s distinctive appearance. A total of 12km of 6mm stop beads and 2.5km of 4mm corner beads were installed across the project. Designed to remain visible, the bead edges contribute directly to the aesthetics of the facade.
Brilliant white PVC beading was selected to achieve the desired finish without the need for painting. In Bahrain’s intense summer heat and high humidity, non-corrosive and UV resistant PVC also provided a practical long-term solution. The specification supported the need for minimal maintenance while retaining the sharpness of the geometric design.
Delivering key priorities
As with Wynn Palace, installation practicality formed part of the specification logic. Renderplas PVC profiles offer a simple, one-man solution for creating straight, durable joints, corners and edges. The material is impact resistant and will not discolour over time, helping exposed edges continue to complement the facade finish for the life of the render.
The two projects represent different expressions of the same performance requirement. Wynn Palace demonstrates the demands of a high-end setting, where facade finishes are expected to maintain a premium appearance over time. The Walk highlights the challenges of a high-traffic commercial destination, where exposed render details form part of the architecture while also being subjected to ongoing use and environmental exposure.
The constant in both projects was the underlying performance requirement to protect render edges, maintain appearance over time, resist UV exposure and corrosion risks, as well as minimising maintenance demands. Renderplas PVC beading delivered that consistency while also improving handling, transport and installation compared with metal alternatives.
In high-end settings, these characteristics protect finish quality over time; they also maintain edge integrity and appearance despite climate stress. The result is a consistent approach to durability, longevity, and ease of maintenance, regardless of whether the pressure comes from design scrutiny or environmental conditions.
