The revolutionary Innofix Clip and two varieties of tiles, all supplied by Redland, have featured in an award-winning development in the Merseyside town of Widnes.
The UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of pitched roof systems have helped to achieve a weatherproof envelope in a super quick time for the Crossway development.
The estate, which is a mixed development consisting of two bungalows, four three-bed houses and six one-bed apartments, tasted success at the 2017 Green Apple Awards for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage.
All buildings were roofed with Redland Grovebury double pantiles – Slate Grey and Redland DuoPlain interlocking plain tiles – Blue, to best blend in with the surrounding area.
Architect Nicola Toomey opted for Redland because of the quality and durability it provides, offering a tried and tested solution whereby maintenance is assured.
She said the two specific tiles were chosen to meet demands of the planning department, whilst the Innofix Clip brought major benefits due to all the buildings being timber-frame, therefore vital to get them weatherproofed as quickly as possible.
Subcontractor Mersey Roofing also heaped praise on the innovative clip, with director Jake Duff talking about how well it performed on what was the first time they had used it and would have no hesitations in using them again.
Developed to be used in conjunction with Redland’s concrete interlocking tiles, the Innofix Clip does not require the use of tools, being the quickest and simplest fixing on the market – 40% quicker than conventional nailed clips. They come ready to use in a unique magazine-style holder ensuring they are tangle-free and can be easily removed from the packaging with one hand.
The latest Builders Merchant Building Index (BMBI) report shows builders’ merchants’ value sales in October were up +1.2% compared to the same month last year.
