Roof Maker launches lightweight Hinged Opening Flat Rooflight

  • 3 Dec 2015

Roof Maker has launched a new Hinged Opening Flat Rooflight, developed as the lightest and most energy efficient product of its type available.

The product utilises Heat-Mirror technology’s low-emissivity film to reduce the weight of its triple glazing by 33% – allowing for easy handling and increasing the potential to create larger glazed areas.

Designed to exceed standards set out by Passivhaus, the Heat-Mirror IG units are constructed using British Standard triple safety glass and energy efficient low e glazing to deliver centre-of-glass u-values as low as 0.3W/m2k.

The units combine with Roof Maker’s super-insulated composite kerb design, including its unique phenolic foam core, to achieve an overall product u-value of 0.6 W/m2k – higher than any opening rooflight currently on the market.

Sustainable and weatherproof solution

As well as the units high energy saving performance, the rooflights include a 100% UV light block as standard to protect furniture, and a Blue Tint option to block more than 95% of the sun’s infrared (IR) heat transmission to reduce overheating.

The frameless structural glazing ensure superior weather resistance by making sure that any water runs off without obstruction, and the opening aluminium lid is fully welded to further guarantee waterproofing.

The hinged roofight features a sleek satin black polyester powder coated finish and narrow profiles for an appealing contemporary aesthetic.

Its heavy-duty actuators are concealed within the kerb and the lid opens up smoothly via a wall mounted rocker or switch, remote control or rain sensor to allow for natural air conditioning.

Like all Roof Maker skylights and roof lanterns, the Hinged Opening Flat Rooflight comes with a 20 year unit seal warranty.
