Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD has been installed throughout South Wales’ prestigious Llandegfedd Visitor and Water Sports Centre, providing watertightness and thermal insulation.

Owned by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, Llandegfedd is a water supply reservoir, which opened last year. Its Water Sports and Visitor Centre hosts a number of activities, including windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing; there are four walking trails around it and the surrounding area.

The development has been named the Royal Society of Architects in Wales (RSAW) Building of the Year in the ‘RIBA Regional Awards 2016 – Wales’.

Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD

Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD was specified for installation throughout the building, on all the walls and floors of the ground and first floors. The multifunctional tile and stone substrate acts as a structural panel, whilst working to create bonded waterproofing assemblies with tile coverings.

The substrate is waterproof, vapour retardant and temperature resistant, as well as thermally insulating. It contains no cement or fibreglass, making it an environmentally-friendly product.

The fitting was carried out by the project’s contractor, Anthony A Davies Group. The installers were particularly impressed with Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD’s lightweight composition and its 10mm grid markings, which have been included to make it easier to cut to size.

Schlüter’s technical team was on hand to provide assistance and support throughout.
