Fenestration designer and manufacturer Senior Architectural Systems and the Aluminium Federation (ALFED) host visit from Don Valley MP Caroline Flint to highlight issues facing the aluminium sector including energy efficiency targets, overseas competition and skill shortages.

The briefing at Senior’s factory enabled Ms Flint to discover more about the innovations and investments into the UK manufacturing.
Senior Architectural Systems are the UK’s largest privately owned supplier of complete glazing solutions to the construction industry.
Senior was joined by Peter McNestry MBE, chairman of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, to highlight the support for local companies, to helping to bring back industry and employment opportunities in the former mining communities.

- installation of a waste reducing powder coating line
- new biomass boiler which generates enough energy to provide free heating throughout the factory
- new PURe® range of aluminium windows with polyurethane thermal barrier that gives ultra-low U values
