Flemingate Shopping Centre featuring Senior's SF52 curtain wall

SF52 curtain wall system installed at Flemingate shopping complex

Senior Architectural Systems’ new SF52 curtain walling system has been installed at the new Flemingate shopping centre complex in Beverley, Yorkshire.

Over 2500m2 of Senior’s SF52 curtain wall has been installed by fabricator Dortech Ltd on behalf of main contractor Wilmott Dixon, to create the large retail displays of the centre’s numerous outlets.

Dortech maximised the flexibility of the SF52 system by installing both capped and capless systems to create the shop frontages.

The SF52 system features an attractive uniform appearance achieved through exceptionally slim sightless of 52mm. This made it an ideal choice for the development, which has been sympathetically designed to reflect the style of Beverley’s historic town centre.

Developed by the Wykeland Group, the Flemingate shopping centre is the biggest regeneration project of its type in the East Riding of Yorkshire. In addition to its retail spaces, the complex comprises a hotel and cinema.

The development covers an area of 11-acres, which was previously used as a tannery, chemical works and museum.

The project was designed by architects Harris Partnership. Street frontages were broken down, with each bay boasting double-height glazed façades created using the SF52 curtain walling.

The system boasts an enhanced thermal performance to provide a cost-effective and comfortable environment for both staff and customers.

The SF52 system is Senior’s most popular curtain wall solution, available as a mullion drained system which removes the need for visible drainage slots and can also be specified as capped, silicone sealed or as a combination of the two.
