Single ply manufacturer IKO Polymeric won one award and was highly commended in another at the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) Awards on 22 June ( photo: Antony Carlyle & David Coldham from IKOPolymeric collecting SPRA Awards).
Parish Primary School – with Module-AR Limited
IKO worked with offsite specialist contractor Module-AR Limited, who designed, manufactured and installed a 26 module single-story building to help Parish Primary School in Bromley expand.
The project took only 30 weeks including removing the existing mobile buildings. IKO Polymeric supplied bespoke prefabricated roofing sheets incorporating its Armourplan P PVC single ply membrane in a specified RAL grey.
The sheets were then installed as a mechanically-fastened roof system in Module-AR’s factory. Prefabricating the different elements (including roof lights and smoke vents) allowed for fast-track installation, reducing time spent and workforce needed on site while ensuring minimum disruption to the school.
Fulfilment centre for Ocado – with contactor FK Group
IKO Polymeric and contactor FK Group completed a 48,000m2 roof in just four months for a vast fulfilment centre in Erith for premium British supermarket Ocado, in Erith. A number of innovations were developed specifically for the project by both companies, and Health & Safety was one of the main considerations.
Anthony Carlyle, Managing Director of IKO Polymeric: “We’re delighted to have won at the Awards with these two projects that showcase the best of single ply. The theme of this year’s SPRA Conference was ‘Raising the Bar’ and the projects recognised at the Awards clearly demonstrated this.”
