  • 27 Mar 2017

In order to create a safe, secure environment at a residential care premises, different levels of access are required for residents, staff, visitors and contractors.

A new care home, Dagmargarden, operated by the Skanderborg Housing Cooperative, uses SMARTair wireless access control to achieve this.

The Skanderborg Housing Cooperative required modern access control suited to every user’s needs whilst making the care home a welcoming, key-free environment. As a result, the Skanderborg Housing Cooperative chose SMARTair wireless control from ASSA ABLOY, with wire-free installation and battery-powered components, saving the cooperative both time and money.

Security managers are kept informed about the status of the premises in real time as the Skanderborg site has Offline and Online escutcheons and wall readers, allowing staff to respond quickly.

Ole Høi Sørensen at the Skanderborg Housing Cooperative said SMARTair provides safety and the possibility to tailor the system exactly to the needs of the user.

Standard credentials equipped with MIFARE RIFD technology are used to open doors at Dagmargarden, while residents receive a tag to automatically open their apartment door without the need for a handle or to even push.

The SMARTair software is an intuitive management tool for administrators, accessible securely from inside almost any standard web browser. Security managers can easily tailor access rights for residents, staff and visitors, access permissions can be amended when required and audit trails can be generated for any particular credential of lock.

In addition, if a card is lost, it takes just a few clicks to cancel it from the system, eliminating risks associated with a mechanical key.
