Social housing sector targeted by building product suppliers

  • 30 Jun 2016

Insight Data has revealed an increase in activity in the social housing market, with more building and construction firms taking on work within the sector.

According to the construction industry data specialists, the number of building contractors winning work within the social market has risen by over 20% in the last 12 months. Research has revealed that more than 580 construction firms are now working within the sector.

After several years of neglecting it, contractors and building product suppliers seem keen to capitalise on the social housing market. Figures from the Department of Environment suggest that local authority acquisition and construction grew from 285 to 1,030 between 2014 and 2015.

Subsequently, the demand for building and maintenance products has increased significantly.
