The Facilities Event‘s organisers have confirmed an impressive list of FM experts who will be speaking during this year’s professional seminar programme.
This year’s free-to-attend programme will be delivered from a central theatre, The Facilities Hub, and will feature 18 sessions delivered by 30 of the most knowledgeable professionals in the UK’s FM industry today. Session content is CPD accredited and will be focused on the ‘Five pillars of FM’. These five streams cover key elements within the FM profession and include cleaning services, security, catering, property management and support & technology services.
“For The Facilities Event 2019, we’ve focused on delivering a programme of practical content that can support the individuals working in facilities management across the UK today. Sessions are designed to enhance FMs technical knowledge on some of the most challenging obstacles that they face on a daily basis,” explains Rachel Godfrey, Event Manager of The Facilities Event.
Deborah Rowland
Deborah is the Director of public sector affairs at Sodexo and Director of IFMA UK, having joined Sodexo in 2016 from the Ministry of Justice where she was responsible for facilities management for the justice, home office and crown prosecution services estates. Deborah has previously worked for the Cabinet Office where she was responsible for delivering the FM strategy for £3.2bn spend per annum, across the entire central government estate and aligning construction and facilities operations through the development of the government soft landings policy.
Mark Miller
Mark’s passion and expertise centres around understanding the relationships between workspace design, workplace policies, technology and culture, and helping companies balance these elements in the creation of their next generation workplaces. As Workplace Technology Strategist at Cisco, his focus is not just on the physical workplace, but rather the intersection of the physical and digital work environments. Mark’s technology background has seen him hold senior roles at companies including Nokia, Avaya and now Cisco.
In his session, Demystifying workplace technology, on Tuesday 9th April, Mark will take a non-technical look at technology, including video, collaboration tools, mobility, wireless, analytics and the IoT, and also examine how Cisco is using technology in its own offices.
Yvonne Taylor
Yvonne has more than 23 years’ experience across the facilities management industry in a range of environments, from healthcare and education to nuclear power stations and food manufacturing facilities, Yvonne Taylor, Head of Cleaning for the OCS Group UK, Ireland and Middle East and corporate council representative for The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) brings her extensive knowledge to this year’s programme as she tackles Reducing single-use plastics in cleaning and catering on Wednesday 10th April.
Mike Gillespie
Mike is Managing Director and Co-Founder of Advent IM Ltd, Vice President of the C31 Centre for Strategic Cyberspace & Security Science, Cyber Security Advisor to the UK Surveillance Camera Commission, and is extremely experienced in senior information security and data protection. He assists C3i Group in continuing to promote thought leadership and awareness to a global audience on the current threats to organisational information assets emanating from cyberspace. As a subject matter expert, Mike is called upon regularly to speak at events and contribute editorial, including for the BBC and The Sunday Times as well as regular cyber and physical security and technology industry media.
In his session, Data protection as a facilities enabler, Mike will look at the benefits that can be leveraged by organisations by having a real-world understanding of data protection act 2018 and GDPR and how, far from preventing business, if done properly, it can enable greater data analytics and improve business efficiencies.
